It had been a great...even fun...day at work...but upon returning home to find his favorite pet expired, Death finally understood the gravity of his job....
haha...I love all the details in this drawing, brian...you are awesome! I love the photo in the background...that's a cool touch and love the skull's teeth! Poor goldfish though :( Great work!
Excellent. Love the distortion of Death's jaw, the superb use of spot colour, and the great attention to back-ground detail. A wonderful,a nd very humourous image.
I feel sorry for Death, (s)he's obviously not a people person but has a soft spot for animals. The portrait on the wall confirms that.....hope he's not grieving too much. The distortion of Death through the water is really well done.
Thanks for the kind comments...this was one my favorite drawings to render and I had a pretty clear picture in my head...(if you want to see some REALLY nice graphite renderings check out detlef's stuff)... my dear tusen you can say anything you want...except that you think my socks are ugly...
love the irony of it all...and love the contrast in the goldfish color againts the grays/blacks...makes it really pop!! thanks for the comment on my illo :) I appreciate you taking time to view my picture :) sandy
Wonderful work. I, too, love the irony here. The rendering through the fish bowl is right on. It just struck me that the picture in the background is necessary to establish that this is Death's house and not just another visit he is making. I can hear Norm MacDonald's voice now.
Jeez, so much great stuff going on here! To avoid being redundant, I agree with every single comment so far. The details tell the story. Love the Felix clock and the "Happy Fish" food. And I too, love that Death has feelings for his pets. BTW, I think his fish expired from "swim bladder" by the looks of him :)
This is such a cool illustration - on several levels! I love the touch of color in the goldfish, the "humanizing" of Death with his decor (gotta love the kit kat clock, and the picture with his puppy), and the overall excellent technique. Well done!
Wow, I'm amazed at all the detail and how you managed to get that jaw to really look like it would through the water. Not to mention this is pretty darn funny, and the splash of orange is a nice touch.
I am curious as to what the fish did to deserve sudden death. Perhaps he pooped way too often and Grim was too lazy to clean the bowl. I guess it'll be a mystery forever.

Very funny! Really like the contrast of the colored rendering against the black and white.
Haha, hilarious!

Beautiful rendering and awesome concept. The best is the picture frame in the back. Hilarious!
I love this! Nice detail and perspective.
That made my day! Absolutely awesome.
This is just great. I love the detail, selective color, and overall feel to the whole illustration. Well done!

LOL!!! I'm sorry he lost his goldfish. Fantastic idea.
Great use of colour and composition!
Cool illustration. I love the detail. But it's so sad, too. I hope you won't mind my saying that he reminds me of Pratchett's Death a bit.
What a very original idea. I love the Irony here. The illustration is very well done also. Great stuff!

I love it! Funny but also poignant. Well done.

hahaha... I know my students are going to love this tomorrow, Brian. I love it, especially the pic with the doggie ;)
Way out of the box idea, and your humor is outrageous. I like all the great detail and the skill in your artwork.
Great piece of work!

Wicked drawing! I like how you infused some dark humor in here too!
Grrrreat piece!
great concept, great humor, great style, great presentation ... everything about this piece is great!
Ooh, this reminds me of the Death character in the Terry Pratchett books (Discworld). Its the attempt at being human that makes it funny! Love it!
what a great idea, and wonderful execution, so much going on on so many different levels...cheers!!
Poor fish. Wouldn't he had to have recognized his fishy when he offed him at his job? Great rendering.

An absolutely awesome idea, and well done too!
oh the irony. imjust wondering.. what happened to the dog?
one of your best
great one. the distortion is really funny. death looks really bummed out--more so than usual, i mean.
Thanks...I just updated the pic with some wallpaper...don't all rooms need a little touch of class?
Everyone's already praised this to high heavens, but really, it's still fantastic. Poor Death.
